Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations, Ramin Mammadov, met on September 4 with Erich Alfred Thilo Braun, Chairman of the Board of the German Foundation for Core Values and International Understanding, and Volker Brecht, Executive Director of the Foundation, who are on a visit to our country.
According to “Tehsil365”, the Chairman of the Committee provided detailed information about state–religion relations, religious tolerance, and the multicultural environment in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, state policy in Azerbaijan has been implemented on the basis of traditions of multiculturalism and tolerance. He noted that constant attention and care are given to religious denominations, the experience of coexistence and multicultural values are preserved, and that regular financial assistance is allocated to religious communities to support their activities.
Ramin Mammadov stressed the important role of tolerance in preventing racism and discrimination, underlining that Azerbaijan represents a unique example of interfaith harmony. He also highlighted that the care shown for the heritage of Christian Germans in Azerbaijan reflects the country’s multiculturalism policy.
For their part, Erich Alfred Thilo Braun, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Core Values and International Understanding, and Volker Brecht, the Foundation’s Executive Director, provided information about the activities of the organization and expressed their high appreciation for the attention paid in Azerbaijan to religious diversity and interfaith harmony. They emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between Germany and Azerbaijan in this field.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
