The 5th meeting of national research coordinators of the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), which examines the reading comprehension skills of 4th-grade students, is being held.
According to “Tehsil365”, the meeting is taking place in Warsaw, Poland, on August 18–22, where discussions are focused on the 2025 PIRLS field trial. Based on the results of this stage, revisions to texts and tasks, as well as information on the next phases of the study, are being presented to the national research coordinators by the international center.
In addition, during the meeting days, discussions are being held between the national research coordinator and representatives of the international center regarding the selection process of schools and classes in Azerbaijan, as well as the adaptation of texts and tasks to the national context.
It should be noted that in Azerbaijan, the PIRLS study, carried out by the Ministry of Science and Education and the Institute of Education, assesses the reading literacy of 4th-grade students in a digital format, examining their ability to read and comprehend both literary and informational texts.
