An event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of People’s Poet and State Prize laureate Fikret Qoca was held at the National Library.
According to Tehsil365, speaking at the event, the library director, Professor Karim Tahirov, discussed the poet’s literary work and emphasized that a bibliography book titled “Fikret Qoca. Bibliography” was prepared to mark his 90th anniversary.
Rashad Majid, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Press Council and Deputy Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers (UAW), shared his memories of Fikret Qoca. He said, “Even before I personally met the poet, I admired his poetry. I had the opportunity to work with Fikret Qoca and accompany him on many trips. He possessed exceptional human qualities and paid special attention to young people. His poems will live forever in Azerbaijani literature.”
In their speeches, Ilgar Fahmi, Secretary of the UAW; Elchin Huseynbeyli, Secretary of the Union and Honored Art Worker; Asad Jahangir, Chair of the UAW Center for Literary Translation and Literary Relations; Qulu Agases, Editor-in-Chief of Ulduz magazine; and poet Aybeniz Ismayilova characterized Fikret Qoca as a pioneering poet with a distinctive style in Azerbaijani poetry and a symbol of objectivity.
Fikret Qoca’s sister, Guldeniz Qocayeva, a researcher at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (PhD in Philology), expressed her gratitude to the leadership of the National Library for organizing the event.
The event also included the presentation of an electronic database and virtual exhibition titled “People’s Poet Fikret Qoca”, prepared by the library staff.
Additionally, participants explored the traditional book exhibition “People’s Poet Fikret Qoca–90”.
