On August 28, a regional conference was held within the framework of the 2025 “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” jointly organized by the Gazakh District Executive Authority and the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department, under the theme “Heydar Aliyev’s Constitution is a legal document that ensures the dynamic development of an independent, sovereign, and strong Azerbaijan!”
According to “Tehsil365”, the event took place at the Gazakh Literature Museum and was attended by the Head of the Gazakh District Executive Authority, Rajab Babashov, officials of the executive office, Head of the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department Aziz Masmaliyev and staff members, Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party’s Gazakh District Organization Anar Nabiyev, families of martyrs, guests from the districts of Aghstafa, Tovuz, Shamkir, and Gadabay, youth, athletes, cultural, educational, and healthcare workers, as well as media representatives.
The conference began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a minute of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs. Director of the Gazakh Heydar Aliyev Center, Jeyhuna Huseynova, officially opened the event, highlighting the significance of the conference and emphasizing that the Constitution adopted on November 12, 1995, laid the foundation of modern Azerbaijani statehood.
In his speech, Head of the Gazakh District Executive Authority Rajab Babashov stressed the role of the Constitution and sovereignty in Azerbaijan’s statehood history, underlining the importance of the Victory achieved in the 2020 Patriotic War in safeguarding national sovereignty. He also emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to the United States and his historic statement there further strengthened Azerbaijan’s diplomatic achievements.
Head of the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department Aziz Masmaliyev noted that the Constitution guarantees the rule of law and the protection of human and civil rights. He highlighted that declaring 2025 as the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” is important for studying the history of statehood in greater depth and passing it on to younger generations.
During the event, speeches were also delivered by representatives of the Tovuz Youth House, the Aghstafa Lyceum, the Local Youth Advisory Council, and Baku State University student Kenan Khalilov, who emphasized the role of youth in protecting statehood and the importance of respect for the Constitution.
Following the official part, a musical program was organized by the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department. Young singer Ramal Balajanov, violinist Mujgan Maharramova, and Ashiq Samir Jalaloglu performed, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for the participants.
