Book exhibition dedicated to writer and publicist Almaz Ulviya

A book exhibition titled "Writer and Publicist Almaz Ulviya" has been launched at the National Library of Azerbaijan to mark the 65th anniversary of the birth of writer-publicist, Doctor of Philology, expert on Navoi studies, and prominent researcher and promoter of Uzbek literature, Almaz Ulviya.

The exhibition features works authored by Almaz Ulviya, including monographs, textbooks, books she has compiled, edited, written forewords for, or prepared for publication. Additionally, literature in Azerbaijani and other languages about her life and work, along with articles from periodicals, is on display.

It is worth noting that Almaz Qasım qızı Binnətova (pen name: Almaz Ulviya) was born on August 8, 1960, in the village of Kəsəmən in the Göyçə region, into a family of teachers. She completed her secondary education with distinction between 1967 and 1977 in her native village and pursued higher education at Baku State University from 1978 to 1984.

Between 1986 and 1988, she also successfully completed a two-year Persian language course at the Azerbaijan University of Languages.

In 1995, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic "Reflections of the Struggle for Democracy and National Independence in Poetry", and in 2010, she earned her Doctor of Science degree in Philology with her dissertation on "The Works of Uzbek Classics in 20th-Century Azerbaijani Literary Studies".

Almaz Ulviya regularly contributes scientific, literary, and publicist articles to various press outlets. Her articles have been published not only in Azerbaijan but also in renowned international academic journals in Turkish, Uzbek, Russian, English, Georgian, Tatar, and other languages.

According to Tehsil365, Almaz Ulviya began publishing her books in the 1990s. Her authored works include:

“Poeziyada Milli-Azadlıq Duyğuları” (National Liberation Feelings in Poetry, 1997),

“Ülviləşən Ülvim” (1998),

“Ülvi Duyğularım” (My Noble Feelings, 1990),

“Bir Ölümün Acığına” (In Defiance of a Death, 1993),

“Ömrüm Sənin Eşqindi” (My Life Was Your Love, 1998),

“Sənin Oxşarın Bənövşədi” (Your Likeness Was a Violet, 2005),

“Ömür Yolu” (The Path of Life, a poem published in 2 and later 5 languages, 2009), and many others, which have reached a broad readership.

She has dedicated 30 years of her academic career to the study of Uzbek literature in Azerbaijan. Her works in this field include:

“Azerbaijani-Uzbek (Chagatai) Literary Relations” (2008),

“Azerbaijani-Uzbek Literary Relations: Periods, Figures, Genres, and Trends” (2008),

“Alisher Navoi in Azerbaijani Literary Studies” (2009),

“O’zbek Adabiyoti va Ozarbayjon” (Uzbek Literature and Azerbaijan, 2016),

“From the History of Eastern Tazkira Writing” (2019),

“Alisher Navoi: Wise Sayings” (2020),

“The Century and Prose of Alisher Navoi” (2020),

“Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi: Tradition and Innovation” (2021),

“Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur and Azerbaijan” (2022),

as well as many others. She has published over 250 scholarly articles in this field.

Notably, she is also one of the co-authors of the first-ever Azerbaijani-Uzbek / Uzbek-Azerbaijani Dictionary (25,000 words) in the history of Azerbaijani-Uzbek literary relations.
