Filming of the Feature Film “Molla Nasreddin: A Friend of My Hard Days” Continues in Kalbajar
The filming of the feature film “Molla Nasreddin: A Friend of My Hard Days”, which reflects the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and the shared memory of the Turkic world through the language of cinema, is currently underway in the Kalbajar region.
According to Tehsil365, the project contributes to the cultural revival taking place in the territories liberated from occupation. At this stage, the film crew includes producer Zaur Darabzade, screenwriter and director, People’s Artist Vagif Mustafayev, executive producer Azer Guliyev, and an international team of 100 film professionals.
Vagif Mustafayev brings a high level of artistry to the project with his unique style and creative vision on social themes. Under his direction, this film presents the character of Molla Nasreddin as a symbol of enlightenment and moral heritage.
Vagif Mustafayev stated:
> “Molla Nasreddin is not only a symbol of humor and satire but also of intellect, irony, and artistic response to social issues. Portraying his character on screen is both a great responsibility and a moral duty for me. Shooting this film on the soil of Karabakh is a true manifestation of cultural revival.”
The project is officially supported by TÜRKSOY and was approved at the 40th meeting of the Permanent Council of Culture Ministers of TÜRKSOY member countries, held during the 1st Turkic World Culture Forum in Shusha in October 2023.
The film is produced by “Nasreddin Production” LLC, established in 2023, with the support of the Ministries of Culture of TÜRKSOY member countries. Filming also takes place in the pavilions of the J. Jabbarli “Azerbaijanfilm” studio. In addition to Azerbaijan, filming will continue in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
Zaur Darabzade stated:

We are not only reviving the legacy of Molla Nasreddin but also building cultural bridges by working closely with renowned producers from across the Turkic world. This cooperation unites our nations around common values, and this film, shot in Karabakh, will become a historical and spiritual legacy for future generations.”
