The traditional 29th Immling International Opera Festival in Bavaria, Germany, concluded with a spectacular “Grande Finale” gala concert. The evening, featuring performances by the Immling Opera Festival orchestra and choir, showcased conductors invited from Germany, Georgia, China, and South Africa.
According to Tehsil365, Azerbaijan was represented at the festival by Əyyub Quliyev, Honored Artist, chief conductor of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, and laureate of international competitions. This marked his fifth invitation to the festival in Bavaria. In previous years, under Maestro Quliyev’s leadership, works by Üzeyir Hacıbəyli, Qara Qarayev, Fikrət Əmirov, and Niyazi were successfully performed alongside German musicians.
This year’s program featured renowned opera singers from Italy, Spain, Mexico, Georgia, Bulgaria, Lebanon, China, Egypt, and Latvia, presenting a rich and challenging repertoire. The approximately four-hour concert included selections from great composers such as G. Verdi, G. Puccini, P. Mascagni, G. Rossini, J. Bizet, G. Gershwin, L. Bernstein, F. Zuppe, F. Lehar, and others, receiving continuous applause from the audience.
At the finale, Əyyub Quliyev and all the soloists took the stage to perform “Libiamo” from G. Verdi’s La Traviata together. Festival director Ludwig Baumann and artistic director Cornelia von Kersenbrock expressed their gratitude to the conductors and singers from various countries.
It is worth noting that, during the festival, which began on June 21, operas such as J. Bizet’s Carmen, W. Mozart’s The Magic Flute, G. Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, and G. Puccini’s Manon Lescaut were performed. Additionally, premieres of new concert programs, including O Sole Mio and Concerto Aranjues, were held.
