The traditional music celebration of Germany’s Bavaria region – the 29th Immling International Opera Festival – concluded on August 10 with a spectacular gala concert.
At the “Grande Finale” concert, the Immling Opera Festival Orchestra was conducted by maestros from Germany, Georgia, China, and South Africa, as well as Honored Artist of Azerbaijan and conductor of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Ayub Guliyev.
According to “Tehsil365”, the Azerbaijani conductor has now been invited to the festival for the fifth time.
In previous years, the orchestra of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre has also participated in this prestigious music event, performing works by Azerbaijani composers Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Gara Garayev, Fikrat Amirov, and Niyazi.
This year, alongside our conductor, opera singers from Italy, Spain, Mexico, Georgia, Bulgaria, Lebanon, China, Egypt, and Latvia presented a vibrant program.
The nearly four-hour concert featured excerpts from operas by G. Verdi, G. Puccini, P. Mascagni, G. Rossini, G. Bizet, G. Gershwin, L. Bernstein, F. Suppé, F. Lehár, and others, all met with prolonged applause.
As the final piece of the concert, under the baton of Azerbaijani conductor Ayub Guliyev, the orchestra and all singers together performed “Libiamo” from Verdi’s La Traviata.
Festival director Ludwig Baumann and artistic director Cornelia von Kerssenbrock expressed their gratitude, on behalf of the audience, to the singers and conductors invited from various countries.
It should be noted that the festival, which began on June 21, featured performances of Bizet’s Carmen, Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, and Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, as well as premieres of new concert programs such as O Sole Mio and Concierto de Aranjuez.
