In Iğdır, Turkey, a city with a significant population of Azerbaijani origin, the “One Nation, Two States” Azerbaijan-Turkey Youth Theater has been established. The theater was created several years ago under projects carried out by the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Turkey, aimed at strengthening cultural ties between the two countries, promoting our national culture, and highlighting the outstanding contributions of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijan’s statehood, Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, and the unity of the Turkic world.
According to “Tehsil365”, within the framework of the project, which is also supported by the Iğdır Governorship, spaces have been allocated for rehearsals and performances at the city’s 100th Year Library and the City Cultural Palace.
The theater is headed by Tofiq Seyidov, an Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, director, and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Arts of Nakhchivan State University, specializing in theater and cultural studies, who has significant experience in this field.
The selection of young actors has already taken place, and rehearsals and preparations for performances have begun. The theater’s repertoire will focus extensively on Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood, our shared values, history, and works by writers from both countries reflecting these themes.
In the future, the theater plans to promote our national culture not only in Iğdır but also in different regions of Turkey.
