Russia’s leading universities have reported a significant increase in applications in 2025 from participants of the Special Military Operation (SVO, as frequently referred to in Russian media) and their children.
According to TASS, cited by “Tehsil365”, applications to the Russian State Social University (RSSU) from SVO participants have increased 12-fold compared to last year, while applications from their children have risen fivefold, reaching a total of 3,081.
At the Russian State University for the Humanities, applications have grown six- and fivefold respectively.
Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) reported more than a twofold increase, from 238 to 516 applications.
Moscow State Pedagogical University and RANEPA also noted that applications have more than doubled.
University leaders regard this growth as a reflection of the government’s support for military families and the creation of new opportunities for future generations.
