Pakistani students are shaping a new wave in international education

In the past, the international education market was mainly dominated by India and China, but now Pakistan is coming to the forefront. According to a report by ApplyBoard, a young population, limited local opportunities, and a growing economy are making Pakistan the next major source of students.

“Tehsil365” citing University World News, reports that in recent years interest has especially grown towards the United Kingdom – in 2024, the number of study visas issued to Pakistanis exceeded 35,500, representing a 550% increase compared to 2019. The United States has also become an attractive destination for Pakistani students, with rising interest in graduate and STEM programs.

In contrast, Canada and Australia have seen a decline in the number of Pakistani students due to government restrictions and reduced visa approvals. Germany, however, is gaining popularity as an alternative destination with its low tuition fees and strong STEM programs.

Experts note that universities should consider Pakistan a strategic priority and focus on attracting these students by offering scholarships, financial support, and strong career opportunities.

According to specialists, the flow of Pakistani students into international education will not only shape global universities but also play a crucial role in Pakistan’s future socio-economic development.
