Initiated by the King Salman International Academy for Arabic Language in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the intensive training sessions held at Baku State University (BSU) within the framework of the “Arabic Language Month” in Azerbaijan have successfully concluded.
According to “Tehsil365”, the four-day program aimed to strengthen both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Arabic language teaching. Nearly 50 teachers and more than 110 students participated in the training, highlighting the growing interest in Arabic language in the country and the increasing need for qualified specialists.
During the program, participants were introduced to the most important theories and methods applied in second language teaching, developed lesson plans using micro-teaching techniques, and practiced implementing them in classroom settings. They also gained modern knowledge on communicative approaches, their various forms, and the role of technology in language learning, and took part in specialized practical exercises aimed at improving listening and speaking skills. Additionally, they became familiar with leading educational channels in the Arab world, particularly resources broadcast on platforms like YouTube, such as Al Arabiya Al Alam.
Furthermore, the training provided participants with opportunities to evaluate their professional experience, engage actively in discussions to develop critical thinking, and learn ways to avoid negative trends in pedagogical practice.
The sessions were led by Professor Saleh Nasser Al-Shuwairkh from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud University and Associate Professor Maher Dakhil Allah Al-Sa’edi from Madinah Islamic University. Their participation brought international expertise to the curriculum and enabled teachers and students to apply modern approaches in practice.
These courses at Baku State University significantly contributed to the professional development of Arabic language teachers, the improvement of students’ practical language skills, and the overall enhancement of Arabic language education in Azerbaijan. The initiative is also regarded as a successful effort promoting scientific and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
